Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
