An individual who contaminated sweets with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a summer program in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two young males aged nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the location in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on recently.
However, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on late November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She told the court Ruben had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She explained the man had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in recently.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor said objects including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She explained the defendant went on to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not responded by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor said the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson notified the law enforcement again.
She stated the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five children.
