The co-creator of Call of Duty, who helped create the immensely successful video game Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in the state of California aged 55.

The tragic news was confirmed by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The influential industry figure died after his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a highway in Los Angeles on this past Sunday, US media outlets report.

"This is a heartbreaking loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's loved ones, those closest to him, and the countless individuals inspired by his work," an official with Electronic Arts commented.
